Introduction
Many international organisations, such as the ICC, the UNHCR, Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International, as well as Ukraine, allege that Russia has forcibly transferred thousands of Ukrainian children to Russia. It is unknown where most of these children are, as some have been put up for adoption for Russian families, and others are being housed in alleged re-education camps. If this were the case – structural deportations of Ukrainian children – it might very well meet the requirements for genocide, and constitute a war crime for both soldiers carrying out orders as well as those issuing them and was outlawed in a multitude of treaties.
The committee should debate ways of finding out what happened to these youths and how to facilitate and ensure the return to their families.
