Reforming the United Nations Security Council

Home / LEMUN 2022 / Committees and issues / Reforming the United Nations Security Council

After 77 years, the system, membership and procedures of the Security Council do not necessarily fit the current world anymore. The recent involvement of a permanent member in an international armed conflict has shown these flaws. Various proposals for reforming the Security Council have been floated over the years. The General Assembly First Committee (Disarmament and International Security) will be debating this issue at the start of the conference. Their resolution will be forwarded to the Security Council and form the basis for your discussion.
