Though direct involvement of foreign governments in the domestic affairs of other Member States is generally frowned upon, some Member States attempt to avoid scrutiny through the involvement of state-owned enterprises. In many situations, however, especially in LEDCs, these foreign state-owned enterprises can function as the de facto extension of the government in question and exert undue influence over the LEDCs policies. The Special Political and Decolonisation Committee should consider measures to protect LEDCs from such neocolonialist tendencies.
