Nuclear non-proliferation on the Korean Peninsula has been an ongoing concern for the international community for decades. The recent progress of the DPRK’s nuclear programme despite a comprehensive regime of international sanctions has once more brought into sharp focus the need to find effective measures to halt these developments and to prevent the threat of nuclear conflict involving the Korean Peninsula. The Security Council should discuss the current developments and determine whether they warrant any change in the sanction regime or if any other steps should be taken.
