Independently sourced and reliable information is of quintessential importance for a free society. Some Member States strictly control the press in their country and limit what information citizens can access. In such cases, information, even if it is reliable, is not independently sourced. Other countries allow more information to reach their citizens. The creation of search bubbles by social media, search engines and in some cases governments can effectively restrict the access to information, endangering both the reliability and the sourcing.
