Ensuring gender equality in positions of power is a major stepping stone towards reaching gender equality in broader society. Whilst governments have direct control over the amount of women in leadership positions in the public sector, other measures need to be adopted to stimulate gender equality in the private sector. One such measure is implementing gender quota. The Human Rights Council should discuss what characteristics such quota should have in common in all Member States.
