APPQ


The Advisory Panel on the Palestinian Question (APPQ) is forum intended specifically for experienced Model United Nations Participants.
In the first annual session of the Advisory Panel of Leiden Model United Nations, participants will take the place of various governments, political parties and organizations in an attempt to formulate a cohesive proposal on the Palestinian Question.

The APPQ will be divided into two distinct subgroups, respectively addressing domestic and foreign aspects of the Palestinian Question. There will be two plenary sessions of the Panel on Friday Afternoon and on Sunday.

The preliminary focal points of the debates have been formulated and are listed below.

Domestic:

The Coordinator of the Advisory Panel will be Nadir Khalil (Stedelijk Gymnasium Leiden, Netherlands).
The President of the APPQ will be Christina Rohrmann (Miss Porter's School, USA).

All participants of the APPQ are required to provide the LEMUN organization with an active e-mail address, to which regular briefings will be sent by the Coordinator of the APPQ.

Friday:

Friday afternoon, before commencing debate, the APPQ will entertain a short briefing on recent developments and political complexities of the Palestinian Question by Nadir Khalil, coordinator of this year's Approval Panel.
Subsequently, there will be a plenary session of the Panel.

Saturday:

Saturday will be spent in the two respective subgroups. Ten nations actively involved in the conflict will comprise the Foreign Affairs Sub Group, while ten delegations of Israeli and Palestinian political parties, along with representatives of several other organizations, will constitute the Domestic Affairs Sub Group. Each Group will debate and draft a separate resolution, both of which will be processed by the Approval Panel of LEMUN 2008 before Sunday morning.

Sunday:

Sunday is reserved for debating the two created resolutions jointly in a plenary session. During this debate, the APPQ will draft a final proposition on the Palestinian Question, which will be presented to the Security Council Sunday Afternoon.
After this, the President of the Panel will officially close the 1st Annual Session of the Advisory Panel of Leiden Model United Nations.
